i know your post was awhile back, but i'll just toss in my two cents in case. I live in las vegas, and have access to more than 1700 routes within a driving distance of 30minutes or less. I probably would not have thought to take up climbing in any less convenient area, and consider myself very fortunate.i hear many people have moved here just to be close to red rocks. also, we are not far from joshua tree, and southern utah. there is part of almost every day that has beautiful weather, and i can climb all year round. there is no shortage of climbers, female or otherwise. good luck on your new home!

Say, I just recently signed on this site, and I am looking for someone to climb with over winter break (Dec. 20-Jan. 3rd). I am a teacher in Oregon...you gonna be around? I've never been to Red Rocks, but I would love to check it out...is the weather okay that time of year?

I'm in Los Angeles so my local spots are Pt. Dume, Malibu Creek, Stoney Point, New Jack, Jtree - weekend trips to Red Rocks and Utah.

I'm in Washington, Olympia area without a lot of exp. I'm self-taught at best after spending last summer fumbling around at Tres Peidres in New Mexico. I've been spending time in a gym and it's not the same as outdoors :(.
Been doing this on my own 'cause I don't meet people well. I don't know much, don't have any roped exp, but want to get into trad, and that means meeting other people, so...
