Greetings "wall rats", and welcome to the El Cap section of Rockclimbing.com, soon to be THE BITCHIN'EST SOURCE of El Cap stories and beta on the whole damn worldwide web!

http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=995

I - "Pass the Pitons" Pete - and my partner Wee-Wee the Big Wall Crab are here to unofficially moderate and edit this area. I'll try to keep active here, do my best to keep stuff "vell organicized" as you post it, and I'll even be happy to share a little beta too.

Please use the Regional El Capitan Forum for specific questions about routes or beta. For technical instruction, big wall systems, or any and all questions pertaining to climbing and living on the world's greatest big walls, please respond in the Aid Climbing Forum.

If you're looking for a sassy and saucy response to your latest big wall or aid climbing problem, remember that you can always "Ask Dr. Piton!"

welcome abord Mr Piton!
It warms the coccles of my heart to see someone here who can offer something relevant to my favorite subject, big walls. Though Iv only climbed the big stone once it was something I waited for since I was a wee lad and hope to do many more times before Im too old (you and I are about the same age). So please keep on working and Ill keep listening/reading and looking forward to my next trip to YOSEMITE!!!

Ah yes, Youth (as Doug Scott would call you), I too have things I want to do many more times before I'm too old. If I'm lucky I'll even get to do it a couple more times this week.

If you have shared the joy and pain of summiting the Big Stone, then you are a proud member of The Club.

Yes, it's true, one cannot ignore the passing of the years, but as the ebullient and effervescent Nikegirl could tell you ...... I may be getting older, but I'm-a gettin' WAAAAAAAAAAAY SASSIER! Yeah, bay-bee!

And DUDE!

....it's Doctor Piton!

Dr. Piton,

I'd like to do a winter solo of Lost in America. I think I read somewhere that you have done that route. Any beta you could give me on gear or anything else would be great. Thanks,

Ben

Dear Dr. Piton,

Seeing as you seem like a, wait a minute, how did this one person put it? Oh ya, a trad daddy I would like to ask you what is your favourite route(s)on El Cap?

Just wondering, I don't know too much about El Cap (only that it's just some of the most rad trad routes in the U.S.) and I would most certainly like to learn more.

Thanks for your time!
=Pat.

Oh ya? I never knew that, of course that would mean that there are barely any holds on the routes and that it's really really flat rock, right?

Hi Pete aka passthepitonpete & all,
By looking at the other posts I am still wondering whether posting this will really be useful (at least for me). But here it is anyway.
Who has never dreamt of climbing the Nose at least once in a climber's life ?
For me and many of my friends this is a great objective. 3 pals of mine have already tried it but they had to rappel from the Great Roof due to bad weather. Yet, being based in Europe, this remain a US trip objective for all of us.
I'd be pleased to learn how much as possible of your experience on that emblematic route, what gear you used, what you find easiest and most difficult, etc.
