Best way to get a partner  (North_America: United_States: California: Joshua_Tree_National_Park)

I am planning on going to J tree for the first time around Jan 7 to the 13. If I just go down there from the Bay Area do I have a good shot at getting a partner when I arrive at the campsite by just posting a note, or would it be a better idea to find somebody online and meet them there? any suggestions, especially based on personal experience of the area, are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
CR

Hidden Valley is the best campground for meeting people, Ryan is second... Jumbo isn't the best.

If you have a rope and gear and know how to lead, that helps too. But just be honest about your experience wherever you post, be it on a bulletin board in the campground or online.

Go have a beer with some people at campsite and you'll have a parter by morning. I've done it, in fact iv done it in yosemite, squamish, red rocks and JTree.

I've tried both, and getting people from the internets to show at JTree was like pulling teeth. Posting on the main hidden valley board is a good backup plan.

I may be in the area later this month BTW, and I'm always keen.
