We are thinking about brining our bikes for trips to the market in Hidalgo. Good idea? Thoughts? Experiences biking into town?

Biking into Hildalgo would be fine, but if that's all you want the bike for, it may not be worth the effort of transporting it. The walk into town is no more than 30 minutes.

yeah, it's a 30 minute walk, and it's easy to get picked up for the short ride from locals and climbers alike. You can also rent bikes from posadas. If that's the only thing you'd bring the bikes for seems like it's not worth it.

Thanks for the thoughts. Due to logistics and our short stay I doubt we'll bring our bikes. It was just a thought to save the hassle of packing up our van to drive into town. Sounds like the walk, or catching a ride would be easy and equally as fun as biking.

I rented a bike from posada. Can't remember the price but I think it was pretty reasonable. Used the bike to go into town and explore the canyon on a rest day.
