I might be moving to India for work within a couple months and wanted to know if there are any good top roping, trad or sport climbing in the Kochin (South West) area. Also, are there any good indoor climbing gyms down that way as well as outdoor bouldering areas.

big thanks,
A

Not sure if there is much in the Kerala region. Perhaps out towards the hills (Munar area). You can definitely take some trips to Hampi for some world class bouldering. There is a train from Kochi to Bangalore and a second train from Bangalore to Hospet (from which you can grab a quick rickshaw to Hampi). This is a pretty cheap trip.

yeah, I heard about that area. Do you know how far it is to Hampi from Kochi, Kerala?

i was hoping to find some stuff closer to this area. a place I could get to for an hour or so during the week instead of having to take a full day.

Is there any top roping or trad climbing anywhere??

Hi both of you, I am going to Goa this friday for 10 days, and is looking for good places and climbing partners for doing some nice rock climbing (preferably not bouldering in the first place).

Do You happen to know any places nearby? Or do you have to go as far down as bangalore (which I heard of) to find nice places?

Grateful for any tips I can get - or even better with some new climbing partners ;-)

Best regards,
/Rufus Lidman
