Hi All, Rumbling Bald will be closed to ALL Activity beginning the 1st week of February. Chimney Rock Park will begin construction of a new and improved parking area and entrance to the climbing at the Bald. During this time, the area will remain closed. Please DO NOT try and go there during this time. More information as well as updates can be found at www.carolinaclimbers.org Anthony Love Carolina Climbers Coalition

That's great news - I was over there a couple of months back and it was getting pretty rutted. (Too many Honda Civics I guess) It wasn't easy getting to the lower parking in an Xterra, I imagine it was near impossible in a 2wd. So the State is picking up the tab?

Also, does that mean it's closed this weekend (1/31 - 2/1) too?

Parking the KIA Rio was all part of the fun. And yes this is a state project, so I don't expect it to be finished in my lifetime.
