Since the dawn of the new site, there's been a pesky bug that won't let some people change their avatars. We think we might have fixed it, but I'm not sure. If a few folks would kindly go change their avatar around and then report back here on the progress, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know what the exact problem was, but I just submitted a new photo as an avatar. I'll let you know if it shows up once approved.

Seems to have worked for me, although I didn't use a brand new photo.
Instead, I simply tagged the pic that used to be my avatar way back when (pre-site-rebuild) as a profile pic, then selected it as my avatar.

FWIW, My photo was approved and now I have an avatar
Although, after uploading and getting one approved, it only showed up in my profile. I think the upload page said the last upload tagged as profile would automatically show up. . I had to go in and specifically select it for it to show up by my posts in the forums.

If anybody is still having trouble, do this:
1. Go to the photo you want to set as your icon.
2. Select "Edit this photo."
3. Make sure the photo category is set at "Profile."
4. Check the box marked "Profile Icon."
5. Save changes.
Should work.
