leave'em at home. I've thru-hiked a couple times and it's an incredibly beautiful trail but the climbing along the way is lacking. the only places I can think of that would be good are white rock mtn which is illegal, haw creek falls and the natural bridge area in the hurricane wilderness area. it'd probably be super sweet to climb there but you can get to both by car, so I'd probably come back some other time, and enjoy a little less weight in the pack. stack rock not far off the trail but it's also accessible by car
