The last trip to Mexico was amazing. I have not been able to get the place out of my mind since we returned in November. It doesn't help that every time I look at our dog (a rescue from Hildalgo), I am reminded of the amazing multi-pitch routes and the fact that I was not able to fit in Time-wave Zero...
Anyway, I am heading back in a few weeks, and before I go I have a few questions for those most familiar with the area:
1- Weather - How cold will it get? Have heard there are HUGE temp swings during the winter. What has been your experience.
2 - Availability of partners - Going alone for this trip and therefore looking for partners. When I was there in Nov, there was a good number of climbers there and quite a few "singles" looking for partners. I am wondering if this late in the season if it will be difficult to find people to climb with.

I went in February 2007 and the weather was perfect. Not too hot during the day and not too cold at night. There seemed to be a lot of climbers there, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

I went for five weeks in January/February 2006. Bring a down sweater, beanie, and a bag rated to 0 deg C for nights, but be ready to climb in t-shirts and shorts. It swung that much. A windshirt is the perfect "oh shit" layer during the day, and a sweater in the pack for chilly belays is sometimes called for.
I'm trying to head back next winter.

I'm in el potrero from this sunday until the end of Feb.
I have a partner for the next few weeks but if you need someone to climb with when you come down let me know, I'll be camping at Posada.

Bump so there aren't a million weather threads for EPC...
I am heading down on Saturday - anyone have a forecast? Highs/lows so I can tailor my packing? I have been looking on weather.com, but other than Monterrey, I don't know if there is a closer place to check for a more accurate forecast.
Anyone know a better weather site/location for EPC?

Thinking of heading to potrero mid march and stay for a few weeks or maybe a week into april. Anybody heading there then? Will it be too hot to climb all day? Will there still be plenty of partners to find there?

Lucas, it'll be fine, just watch the potential for rain in march; plenty of folks there then. I may go mid march myself with my son and others, send PM so I can let you know if it works out.
