On 07 February (Saturday)

a climber fell from “Pool of Blood” in Eldorado Canyon which is a 50 ft long wide-crack. According to witnesses.

he had 2 pieces of gear both of which pulled.

This is a 5.9 climb, which has gotten harder over the years as some helpful chockstones have disappeared. They not only helped with climbing but could be slung for protection. In its current state, I found it protects ok with 2 #3.5 Friends and a #4 Friend. However there is a danger in falling of moving away from the crack (to the outside) and placing a sidewise-pull on the cams, which may account in part for the pulled gear.

The extent of climber’s injuries at this point have not been made public but are probably significant. All the best wishes for a good recovery.

Cheers,
