I tried to edit the route No Sugar Less Oil Very Spicy but I get the following error:

Sequence cannot contain the value ''

I was going to change it from a V0 bouldering route to a 5.9 route since it's more of a solo than a boulder problem. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Okay, done. When I get home later this week, I'll start the process of hunting down the bug. Thanks again for the heads up.

Well, first off, I'd advise against using the drill to modify the route. Perfect 3 finger pockets went out of style in the late 90s, and belong in Buoux in my opinion.

Which leaves us the hammer, the chisel, and the wire brush. Now, if it's a really loose composite or sandstone, some aggressive work with that wire brush might just have enough bite to enhance those grips.

If it's limestone or granite, you might have to pry some flakes or bang out some edges. The trick is making it look natural, otherwise you'll catch all sorts of hell from lots of people spouting LNT and other such nonsense, clearly they have never had a vision of what a route should be.

Good luck.

Heads up, this problem is still existing. I tried to modify the difficulty of a route: Riverside Quarry - Taboo Area - Taboo. The difficulty of the climb is 12b or c, the 12a in the guide is a typo by the author. I tried to change it to 12b but got the same error message. Is this glitch going to be fixed any time soon?

Thanks,

Josh

Okay, here's the deal. It looks like we're bumping up against what I think may actually be the single worst feature of the RDB: route sequence. When I say route sequence, I'm referring to the location of the climb on the actual cliff relative to other climbs. The sequence runs left to right, if I'm not mistaken.

The message you were receiving is not an error. It's that way on purpose to make sure the person entering info enters the climb's location on the wall or boulder.

But the obvious problems are that, one, most people have no clue where the climb is relative to anything other than what they have climbed, and two, why on Earth would you have to re-enter a sequence for an edit? When we get around to fixing the RDB, this will be one of the toughest nuts to crack, although if we ad some sort of topo functionality, it will make the sequence obsolete. (That's how I'm leaning, but I don't yet know what the topo functionality might consist of.) Anyway, we fixed it so the sequence defaults to 0, so you shouldn't see that message again.

I'm also going to make it so you can edit routes without editor approval. That will take a little longer to do.
