Hey, Does any body know what is happening with this guide book. I have been trying to get a copy for a while with little to no avail. I called Mountain Magic and they told me it is out of date, but should come back in June. I was unsure whether it was unsubstantiated. I am posting here looking for the answer for my question because I will be out out in Canmore for the whole summer. I am just starting to lead climb so having a book like this would be a huge help. Thanks in Advance or sorry in advance if this is in the wrong area.

this would be best in the regional forum, but i don't give a hoot. I don't know about the guide book, but you can use the routes section on this site to find crags/routes all over the world. I also remember seing a book called "canmore sport climbs" somewhere (MEC i think) that you may want to look into.

So you can't even buy it direct on Amazon.ca anymore, huh? That's where we got our copy before our last trip out there. Looks like they still have second hand copies for sale on their site, and you can still get it from Amazon.com. I'm not going through all the details myself, but here are the links to wade through: dot ca http://www.amazon.ca/...234830176&sr=1-1 dot com http://www.amazon.com/...234830310&sr=8-1

I wan't to say thanks for all the beta you guys are getting for me. I guess I will try the Amazon link that granite_grrrl gave me. I am pretty excited to be guiding rafts and sport climbing all summer in Canmore. If anybody could give me some information on which crag would be the best for 5.8-5.10a. I did a little research before, but it looked like any of Cougar Canyon, Grassi lakes, Heart, and Grotto would be suitable. I am just wondering which would be the best as I seem to be stuck at 5.9. The factors rely on my absolute shit technique, and I am hoping I can beat the plateau by the end of the summer.

The Bow Valley Rock Guide is primarily gear/trad routes and multipitch. Sport Climbs of the Canadian Rockies is the current sport climbing book (with some gear routes listed) It covers over 1400 routes in the Calgary to Lake Louise area. Info and updated topos for all the local (Calgary, Canmore, Banff) guidebooks can be found at www.tabvar.org Cougar, Grassi, Heart, etc all have plenty of good routes in your range. Cheers,
