would it be possible to fly into either atlanta or chattanooga solo, hitch-hike or bus close to the boulders, camp, and climb for two weeks? or is this impossible?

OR, how does HORSEPENS 40 compare? easier access? cheaper? better?

all i can think of is escaping the horozontal rain in squamish...

rocktown wud be better choice because u can camp at pigeon mtns where rocktown is for free, but you cant camp at rocktown, but you can walk up to there - maybe 30 min to walk. i havent been in hp40 before. i heard ppl love it.

see www.seclimbers.org for more informations about hp40 and rocktown.

when will u be in town ?

Camping at Rocktown is quite easy. There are camping sites in the woods all around the parkinglot for the boulders. From there it is a 1/2 mile hike in to the boulders. You probably would not be able to hire a comercial ride up to Pigeon Mountain. If you made it to the city of La Fayette, GA, however, I would be happy to drive you up the mountain. PM me for more info.

Make sure you have a warm sleeping bag or a tent. Camped at RockTown this past weekend and it was around 15 degrees on the mountain. Hope all works out for you... that area is fantastic.

Peace
