Hi everyone!
Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School needs climbers of all experience levels to play the role of ‘clients’ for day two of the American Mountain Guides Association Single Pitch Instructor Assessments. These normally fall on a Sunday and most are run at Looking Glass Rock, NC. We need a maximum of six people to play clients for each assessment and we run about eight of these a year. You don’t need any gear or experience to sign up, but if you do sign up please make sure you can attend the date as these normally fill within 48hrs of these postings.

The candidates on the AMGA SPI Assessments are assessed on all aspects of instruction in a single pitch setting and its great fun to play the client role and get some free climbing instruction in! The day normally runs from 8am to around 2pm and you would be asked to take part in an informal de-brief with the examiner at the end of the day to give feed back on the candidates performance from your perspective.

Here are the spring dates we need clients for:

8 March (Sat-Sun), Pisgah Forest, NC
10 March (Mon-Tue), Seneca Rocks, West Virginia
15 March (Sat-Sun), Reimers Ranch Park, Texas
5 April (Sat-Sun), Pisgah Forest, NC
17 May (Sat-Sun), Pisgah Forest, NC
31 May (Sat-Sun), Pisgah Forest, NC

For a list of all the dates in 2009 go here:
http://www.foxmountainguides.com/...ion_Course_Dates.htm

If you are interested in enrolling please email me ASAP, like I said these normally fill with 48hrs of the postings. For more information on the AMGA training and certification programs for instructors and guides: http://www.amga.com

Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School offers technical skills courses for all climbers from novice to advanced. We offer Rock Climbing 101, 201, Single Pitch Lead, Multipitch Lead, Single and Multipitch Rescue and Aid Climbing Courses. Climb safe!

I knew an AMGA certified guide once.

Both of his racks were all shiny and unused, and he didn't feel safe leading 5.8. He instructed a course on Trad climbing, and his "instruction" basically consisted of talking about gear.

How about you put your ads in the classified section, even if what you're offering is free, people will not receive this well if you post it here, trust me.

I’m sorry your trad leading class was not a good experience. I was trying to reach NC climbers that wish to get out for a day for free.

If you need noobs nearer the time you could hit up the WCU gym. Lots of strong kids that have never been outside and would be pumped for 12 hours of SP at the glass.

I think it's a reasonable place. But I probably wouldn't have posted it in two places.

Wish I could come, sounds like it might be interesting.

Great idea, thanks! We have had three emails from people that want to come along in about an hour so they are going fast as usual!

Just a heads up that I agree that this needn't be in two places so the other one has been recycled (didn't have any responses). Regional seems a better place for it anyway.
