hello, I have been out of climbing for 2-3 years, before i quit i bought a pair of shoes, used then a dozen times. i'm atarting again and was wondering, are they still ok to use ? or does the rubber have a shelf like ? I seem to recal they get "hard" or something..... thanks !!!!

Hi, I don't know about shelf life, but I recall, that you can take a wire brush to "scuff" up the rubber, if it has gotten slick or shiny. Supposed to help but I have never tried it. Hope that helps, anyone else have any info??? Jeff

I think that a shoes life really depends on the person who owns them. If you notice that the edges of your climbing shoe, are becoming more and more rounded off, then it might be time for a new pair, or simply just a re-sole. And of course it's not just the shoe's sole condition, it could be its condition as a whole. For instance, the laces are getting to be all ripped up, or there are some tears in the material. And, if your feet are still growing, the size might be a large factor in determining weather or not to get a new pair. It's all up to you man! Pat.
