Please be advised that Scott Hamilton, the City of Scottsdale Trails Planner, and Erik Filsinger, Climber Liaison to City Staff, have "flagged" the new climber path connection from the new Tom's Thumb trail over to Gardener's Wall. The orange flagging is City property and should not be removed.

This is the second phase of climber path identification and subsequent construction. The first phase was completed a couple of weeks ago a great bunch of climbers spent their morning putting the final touches on the climber path from the old Tom's trail head (at the end of the road past that lone house) to the southwest up past Fort McDowell, Half and Half Wall, and Lost Wall to the ridgeline trail west of Tom's Thumb. That climber path can also be used to reach Tom's Thumb in a counter-clockwise loop.

When the new Tom's Thumb trail is officially opened, climbers will be able to access Gardeners Wall from this new climber path segment that crosses the prominent wash below Gardeners Wall. A future climber path will lead from the base of Gardeners Wall to Tom's Thumb proper, although climbers will be able to access Tom's Thumb via a climbers path from the new official multipurpose Tom's Thumb Trail that will run south and east of Tom's Thumb proper.

Please contact Erik Filsinger, at, or Scott Hamilton, at, if you have any questions.
