Well, I haven't heard of anything lately, but chances are always high. I've heard of places like roadside crag having issues but have not experienced anything...yet.
Just make sure that you take what you need with you and if you can leave the other stuff in your tent at migules. Or lock it up in a glove compartment or something.

Don't bother with the Red. Its an over crowded pile.

A friend of mine had his car boken into this season, and I've seen it happen at Military Wall more than a handfull of times. Save yourself the headache and go to the New River Gorge instead. It's better climbing there anyway.

I do a lot of climbing in the Lower Gorge. I've never heard of any break-ins there. Muir Valley seems like a safe place too.

Muir Valley has a camera on the garage monitoring the parking lot - that might help, but it's fairly unique. I've been at Roadside when someone else's car was broken into. Leave little or nothing in plain sight in your car. Carry small expensive valuables like wallet, cell phone or iPod with you. You may be better off leaving stuff in your tent than in your car, and if you're at Miguel's long term they have lockers. At least a couple of the break-ins that occurred at Military Wall happened with cars that were parked there overnight, so be careful about that if you're backcountry camping.

Have a good time Bill! If you call Stalnaker he can put you in touch with Dave B. He lives at the Red and is always willing to climb. Dave also has a really nice cabin and would probably let you store your stuff there so it isn't in your car. Stay away from places like Roadside that are more prone to break-ins becasue of the amount of traffic and the "meth heads" know where the trails are Wink. I've been going down for years and have never had a problem.

Holy Shit....2190 days on RC.com and over 22K posts...is that possibly correct?? That is over 10 posts a day, do you carry a blackberry when you climb? How are you able to acheive such outstanding numbers on a daily basis? Life is marathon and you are running a great race. Please let me know.

Heh...

It depends on the cliff I guess. Some are chossy. Many are over crowded.

We'll be down there over Easter.

Actually it is 10 posts per day on average right now.

I don't own a crackberry or any other similar devise. I do however deal in volume.
