I'm heading out to Sedona the first couple weeks in April with my family. While my brother and I are amped for the plethora of 5.10 climbing (a challenge that we've been training up for) i don't want to leave my little sister or dad out of the action but they have zero (read NOTHING) in the way of climbing experience. I've done searches and even read through a few guides but can't find anything on places to put up an easy sling shot or any other TR in their 5.5/ 5.6 skill level. Is this because these faces just don't exist??

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if there are any issues about this!

A few (well, more than I want to admit, I guess), I did some climbing below the hairpin turn on the way to the Grand Canyon from Sedona. There was some easy and some hard stuff. Don't really remember specifics, but found it through some guidebooks.

So, if that's still allowed, it's an option.

It's been a couple of years since I was in Sedona but off oak creek cayon road there is a route called "mars attacks." It's a four pitch 5.8-. The second pitch is a traverse but well bolted. The rest of the climb is trad. It's an awsome route for any level of climber.

Two raps will get you to the bottom with two 60m ropes. At the end of the first rapel you can set up a little top rope on a nice 5.10 finger crack in the corner on your left.

I don't think anyone with zero experience would have much fun climbing in Sedona. But, at the head of Oak Creek Canyon is the Overlook. It is basalt and mostly shorter climbs facing south. It is a wonderful view and your beginner climbers have many climbs to choose from. Just be careful getting down to them. A Cheap Way to Fly by Tim Toula has info; this site does also.

Mars Attacks is not on oak creek canyon road, it's off Dry Creek Road. I wouldn't recommend it for total beginners but you and your brother may enjoy it.
