Who thought it was a good idea to rebolt Urban Struggle and not only not remove the old bolts but clearly take no concern for placement of the replacement bolts. Seriously. If someone doesnt fess up I am going to be chopping the new bolts and to the best of my ability filling in the holes to look like they never existed. Its called spite

I confess, a couple of us replaced the top bolt and hanger and removed the old spinner 5 years agoWink. As to the new ones, no idea.

Since that rock is compressed mud, I'm sure that the bolts couldn't go back in the same location. Whoever did it might have had to find a new suitable location in better rock.

I didn't see anything that bad with the bolts to warrant replacing all the bolts. However, I haven't been back to the Ghetto for a month or so.

I heard that the new cordless Dremel tool with the cutoff wheel works fantastic.

What are you going to do if someone does fess up?

I saw a truck that looked like Ken N's there a little while ago? Maybe he is trying to make amends?

I will beat them to "thee" pulp. oh, and I'll probably post some ridiculous post on RC.com stating how annoying it is to see so many bolts all over the place. Do we really need a bolt next to a bolt on 4 out of 6 bolts of a climb...NOPE.

Instead of complaining about the old bolts being there and an eyesore, why don't you just remove the old bolts and leave the good new bolts in.

I have not climbed in that wall in years, but from what I remember, it's choss in the middle of nowhere. Most bolts were bad when I was there, good to know someone took some initiative to replace them.

If I lived near there, I would just remove the old bolts, patch the holes, and move on.

Cheers
Eman

yeah, it says you are an idiot. pull the old bolts, leave the new, and quit whining. you could have done the community a service by now.

Just reread the first post. Did you edit it, or have you been complaining that the person who rebolted had the obesity to remove the bad bolts when placing new bolts.

If I read you post correctly, you're complaining that the person remove old hardware while replacing new hardware. Would you have just place new bolts and left the old?

Sounds like you wanted to complain about something and you've decided to bash the person who used his time, money, and energy to do the climbing community a favor.

Personally, I applaud the guy, he not only replace the bad bolts, but went to the trouble of removing the old ones too. Something a lot of climbers don't do.

Dude...Gangbangzoo...Let me explain this to you one more time.

Someone recently "added" bolts right next to existing bolts on a climb that DID NOT Need them. It only needed one bolt to be replaced and that bolt was questionable. Whoever this person was did not take his "time" and left the other bolts. So now when you are climbing you can look at two bolts right next to each other every 7 feet. That isnt cool in any way shape or form. Even if he wanted to "retrobolt" the route it should have been done "properly". This is a community climb. In every high traffic area caution must be taken to keep things in ideal working order.

Yes I am complaining. Yes, even though I am complaining I will be removing the old bolts ASAP.

And I think you meant to use the word Audacity not obesity

Instead of complaining here for the whole world to see, you should have just pulled the old bolts and move on. Your original post, you clearly stated you wanted to chop the new bolts, now you want to pull the old ones, make up your mind.

Instead, you came here to stir trouble. Or you came here to let everyone know you were going to clean up someone else mess.

As for Malibu Creek being a high traffic area, well, I don't see it that way. Yes, some locals enjoy the area, but I would hardly consider the riverside mud cake a major climbing destination in California. I would even bet that Reflector wall sees more traffic.

Glad you're passionate about your area. Good to know you'll be cleaning up someones mess. Glad you corrected my automatic spell check error too. Being such a grammar and word Nazi, I am surprised you miss spelled my screen-name twice.

As for me, I need to pack up. I have some Grade V first ascent I want to work/play on this weekend.

Cheers,
Eman

"Miss Spelled" maybe. It's a word joke.
