Hi,

What's castle rock like in the summer? Is it too hot during the days and evenings?

(I'll be in santa cruz for a short time and am wondering whether to bring my gear.)

thanks,
Eric

Definitely bring the gear! It can get pretty hot, but last year I climbed during the hottest day of the year in the area and it was a blast. Thats always a good time to visit the Waterfall Wall and take a little shower in between climbs. You just have to find the right climbs at the right time. The Underworld and Western Addition areas are pretty much always under shade. Waterfall Wall is good most of the day, but some routes get sunny in the afternoon. Goat Rock is sunny most of the day until the evening. and Castle Rock itself is usually pretty fine on shade. Happy Climbing! Hope you make it up
