Hello!

I have som questions regarding the climbing in Colorado.
Me and my girlfriend is going to Denver in mid may for two weeks of climbing and adventure. We don't climb hard, we climb fun. I did my first trad 5.8+ crack lead in Enchanted Rock (Texas) this weekend and I don't think I want to push harder since we're only doing mid 5.10 on toprope. But we both want to build confidence in leading. And we both like big routes.

So what do all of you recommend for us in the 5.6-5.8 range?
Both big routes, and shorter to get good in leading are intresting.

Were should we stay? Is Boulder the place to be? Or should we try to plan some kind of roadtrip?

Regards, Tobias
(-from Sweden)

Boulder is a great place to be :) you would be about 5 mins from boulder canyon 10 mins from eldorado canyon and maybe 35 mins from north table mountain in golden all of these areas have great climbing. plenty to keep you occupied for 2 weeks. boulder also has a great down town area lots of fun stuff to see and do but colorado has good climbing all over if you do want to travel and see other parts of it i would recommend taking I70 out towards grand junction and swing by rifle and gunnison.
hope this is helpful

Hi Tobias,

I agree with the previous response... Boulder is a fine place to stay. Not sure what you want for accommodations, but I highly recommend the Boulder Outlook Hotel; a zero-waste hotel. It has a pool and hot-tub, and breakfast included. Their accommodations are nice, but not luxury.

Hopefully other people will chime in with good recommendations for routes. I enjoyed White Whale on Lumpy Ridge.

There's a nice hike to get there. The top part may be a bit run-out for you if you are not comfortable with that. You may want to acclimatize a few days before setting off on the hike.

In Boulder Canyon Cob Rock has some nice two pitch trad routes. http://mountainproject.com/...der_canyon/105744567. Empor and North Face Center are quite nice.

Best of luck.
