I'm pretty new to the forums here, but I am getting the impression that there are a lot of educated people here. Now I'm curious -- what is your education level and what do you do?

10th grade, highschool drop-out w/ a GED... Navy training as a computer operator / programmer in the 80's... Self-taught and lots of specialized technical training for my job as a QC / NDE Inspector working maininy in the petro-chemical and aerospace industries until the mid 90's, since then inspecting nuclear power plants, recently hiring on full time for a major utility in the Carolinas and Florida that has 4 nukes in their fleet. Self-taught in other areas that interest me.

I graduated in 99 with a BA in Geography. Just finished an Associate Degree in Massage Therapy 09. Taking a break, then going back to school for Nursing or Physical Therapy in a bit.

Curious reno, in what bro?

A friend of mine that I bounce a lot of my current interest/obessesion off of has a PhD in Math, a Masters in Theoretical Physics, and a Masters in Poly Sci... He has no job, other than keeping the computers up and running at the coffeehouse I used to hang at for free coffee and debating politics (which I hate), as working for someone else would be beneath him. He's more of a mess than I am, and I often call him Ted Kazinski. We joke around calling him my thesis advisor. Problem is, I lack the math skills required to advance much into my current interest. I wish I could go back to school. Unsure

I might even learn how to spell. Tongue

BA, math and political science '06. is that two degrees? I only got one diploma. I wonder where it is.

rrradam, your friend sounds a lot like me, except the thesis advisor bit. I work at a custodian bank doing back-office work. I like it because my bosses leave me alone. I'm currently torn between becoming a climbing bum and starting a career in something worthwhile. eventually I'll have to commit to one or the other--I think a career will be more rewarding but I have no idea what to pursue.
