What are your opinions of using the Wild Country SRC for indoor and sports routes? You can find info about it here. DanielB

I've seen it in use, and people seem to like it, but it is kind of a specialized tool, since it can't be used for double rope rappels, and is only rated for use with 10-11 mm ropes (many single lines now come in 9.4 - 9.8 mm diameters). I wouldn't get it for my first belay device, but if you've got money to burn, it's kind of nifty.

It's a great auto-locking belay. It's lighter and cheaper than the PETZL gri-gri and is not as static of a belay, allowing it to be used on trad routes. (It's only like 30 bucks, AND it comes with one of their belaymaster carabiners, which goes for 18 or so, so really, it's cheaper than another device...) A.W.

Yeah, I don't really want a grigri I've heard of too many accidents with one. They only seem to catch a sudden fall not gradual loading (like if you lean back at the lower off etc)... Can it be used to rappel on? And yeah its half the price of a grigri too Daniel [ This Message was edited by: danielb on 2002-11-26 07:02 ]
