So I'm trying to remember which mountain is too holy to fully summit. A diety lives on top and (honorable) mountaineers turn around just feet from the summit.
I want to say it's kangchenjunga but I might be crossing some wires here.
Nanda Devi is closed to climbing, is this a religious or political measure?

You're right Angry, it is kangchenjunga. At least its one of them. Joe Brown and his expedition stop only feet from the true summit.

It's not a question of whether I believe there is a goddess up there, it's just so neat to see the kind of respect some climbers have. It probably takes more strength to turn around right there than to continue up.
