All,

In case you are unaware, there is a currenlty bill in the PA legislature to close 35 PA state parks. Ralph Stover SP in on that list.

Here some links to articles with more info. If you live in PA (or even if you do not, but use these parks) I suggest writing your local polical types to oppose such closures.

Please take a moment to contact your state senator and representative and ask them to please not allow ANY state parks to close. Their e-mail addresses are listed on this link. Type in your zip code in the upper right hand corner and both your senator and represenatative will pop up. Please let them know how you feel! Thanks.

That sucks, I wonder how they plan on closing them. Does this just mean that they will no longer keep them up and have rangers, or does it mean that they will fence the area to keep people out.

Either way, I'm sorry.

I tried to find some info on exactly what "closure" means and could not find any. They are having similar issues in California.

That sucks. I sent my emails to the appropriate peeps this morning when I heard about it.

Closing public land is an awful way to save money. I am afraid if the parks close and the state needs money, that it won't take long before the land is sold and McMansions are sitting atop the crag.

I dont think a group of climbers will be able to figure a way around their fence. How terrible.

Seriously though, I have never thought very highly of High Rocks, but to hear of any closures is most unfortunate. If anyone hears anything further, please keep me posted. I am not a PA local, so I would not know who to attempt to contact. If all it takes is a few letters to the proper elected official, I would be happy to help. Could someone provide names and addresses of those that we should attempt to reach?

Thanks.

~Kevin

Ralph Stover State Park is in Upper Black Eddy, PA. I recommend if you are not a P resident to go to the link for State delegates in the first post and type in the zip code for Upper Black Eddy, PA

18972

That will get you the politicos for that district.

The contact listed on the PA DCNR website for Ralph Stover is:

Ralph Stover State Park
c/o Delaware Canal State Park
Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972
610-982-5560
Manager: Rick Dalton
