Looking for some beta on different single pitch routes in red rock that are great for a beginner, probably 5.7 and below. The beginner I am taking is not super strong, so something not too pumpy. Can be a trad or sport lead since they will only be top roping. Trying to introduce some people to climbing, and I just dont know any really great easy routes there and just want some beta other than looking in the boot for 5.6-5.7 routes. Also, anyone know of a shop down there that rents shoes? Search function of the forum didnt help out. thanks for the help.

Panty Wall between the first and second pullout has several easy sport routes in that range as well as one 5.6 trad. Have fun.

check out the area just left of Ragged Edges in Willow Springs- shady in the afternoon and a short approach. tonto and the climbs left of it are pleasant 5.5-5.7 routes. ragged edges is a classic 5.8. the children's crag a ways right of Ragged Edges is another option. panty wall would be nice in the early morning, but temps will make it unclimbable probably before noon.

Check out Desert Rock Sports on Charleston for shoe rental...... also Panty Wall is in the shade until about 11:30 this time of year.........Cut Your Teeth crag is nice, but has a longer approach, and gets sun earlier than Panty Wall.
