I am looking for a summer camp for my daughter in 2010, who will be 16 then. This year is the last year of her basketball camp. We were looking for some type of outward bound or climbing camp which was also highly responsible with the campers, such as making sure someone is there to get them when they get off the plane. Since she plays softball until early July, it would have to be in the mid July to mid August time frame. She is a moderate climber, experienced in trad. She said she is not against the idea of ice climbing if it was a camp in Alaska. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In reply to: gblauer wrote: will you adopt me and send me to camp?
She will be paying her own way. Her mom died last year and left her money for such things. On my income, she is limited to the Black Hills, and she is not fond of the guiding she has experienced out of the hills, although it was just one guide service she had the experience with. She does love Frank at Devils Tower but he doesn't have a camp. If he did, she would already be asking to be signed up.

He needs someone every year. She needs to cook, clean and deal with guests. Much better than camp! She's 16 right?

Will be 16, but I only want to send her to camp for up to 3 weeks max. I still want my daughter around, especially since I may only have 2 summers left with her before she takes off, and I am trying to get her to think about Yosemite for a summer job when she gets out of high school or getting her firefighting certificate and play hotshot or initial attack engine crewman for a summer, but although those are my past summer jobs, she is sounding like she thinks I am trying to ger rid of her, yet being around her one would think dad is the last person she would want to hang out with.

I put that on favorites. I had thought of outward bound but was looking for feedback. Possibly they have the information I need.

In reply to: gblauer wrote: will you adopt me and send me to camp?
I should adopt you for a couple of weeks to take my daughter climbing(wife and I have weekends scheduled to shoot weddings all summer). The prices for Outward Bound and Wilderness Experience average $200 to $250 a day, not counting airfare and registration. The church and basketball camps spoiled me with the low prices. What do you charge to take her with you for a couple of weeks climbing?
