I will be moving to Birmingham and wanted to know about climbing areas convenient to the south side of the city. Also, are there any local groups that frequent the areas? I'm down for any type of climbing so let me know. Thanks.

There is nothing to be had South of BHM except for Moss Rock Preserve in Hoover...purely bouldering, but of high quality. Many opportunities for Sport and Trad cragging in the TAG region within a two hour drive. Further afield, in Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina, many areas offer great variety of style with many lifetimes worth of climbing of most any style.
