So looking at the Seneca Shadows website it looks like campsites are $15 bucks a piece. Honestly, that's ridiculous, I dont need a flush toilet in my campsite. Are there spots to camp for less/free? Can I bivy/camp in the forest near the crag or is that off limits? Thanks for the beta.

princess snowbird campground is across the road from seneca shadows and much cheaper...there's free national forest camping about 30 minutes away...no camping on seneca land

You don't need a hot shower, clean and comfortable tent sites, a short walk to climbing and gear shops, or great views of Seneca either. Nice to have, though, if you are willing to pay the price. Seneca Shadows is a good campground.

Seneca Shadows is $13 on day of without online reservations.

Nice hot shower, good toilets, noisy tourons that bring everything plus the kitchen sink, tiki torches, and TV. There are some spots at either end of the walk-in area where you can generally get away from that, though.

Princess Snowbird is $6

Nice creek side camp spots, just as easy access to climbing, gear store and coffee/restaurant. Drive right up to your camp spot. can camp just about anywhere you want. Crappy water, showers and toilets.

Depends on what you want...

If it matters to you, Seneca Shadows is a state camp ground. Therefore it's "No alcoholic beverages". You can as long as they dont see you. Princess snowbird you can drink, cheaper, showers, bathroom and the guy comes around selling wood continuously. Kinda anal actually.

princess snowbird is in a better location too. Right next to town, you can stumble back from the front porch restaurant (BYOB!!!!) in a min, and you can wake up and walk to the base.
