Hey I'm moving to Waco, TX in a month and I was wondering if there is any worthwhile sport climbing on the north side of austin. I've seen there is some nice bouldering around Temple, but I was wondering if there are any good places to boulder or climb sport around Waco that might not be too far away...and help would be great.

enchanted rock.
bull creek park is some bouldering is on the northish side of austin. There are various hidden locations around austin. There are several new books sold at REI that detail the central texas area. But austin and enchanted rock will be the most fun. Oh yah... there's roger's park in belton. Thats a bit closer for ya.

There's a little bit of harder stuff in Georgetown as well.

Yeah...I've seen some of these locations on the database here...the riverside sanctuary looks like it has a lot of short stuff...specifically how tall is the stuff in George town? Im use to 50+ feet of Sandstone and some up to 80-90 feet here in Arkansas...I've been climbing hard all year and making a lot of progress, I want to keep it up when I move if I can find a place that's worth climbing.

There used to be some short bolted limestone lines on the north side of Belton Lake on Fort Hood. There's a gym in Harker Heights, you might inquire there.

Unfortunately you will be lucky to get 30 feet at the Riverside Sanctuary but it is closer than anywhere else. You might be able to get some decent 40 to 50 foot lines in the Greenbelt.
Its limestone so the climbing can be harder on your hands than the sandstone in Arkansas. What I wouldn't give for some of that Arkansas sandstone to be within a couple of hours of Dallas.
You can make weekend trips to E-Rock for some longer lines or to Reimers.
You will definitely miss that Arkansas sandstone.

What's up Chase! I haven't heard from or seen you in a long time man! Saw your name on the forums while messing around reading climbing articles...pretty crazy!....Heard from your sis a while back that you were into climbing...dude we need to climb some weekend since your moving back to Texas....I live in Austin about a 2 min. walk away from the Greenbelt, which has some pretty cool climbing spots up all the way into the 5.12 range. Have you checked out Roger's Park yet? Hear there is some decent bouldering there. As far as Georgetown it isn't worth the trip...might as well drive the extra 30 min. south into Austin to get to stuff worth climbing....
