Guys, Climbed reently in a poison ivy ridden area and got completely covered in the stuff, as did my gear. Any recommendations as to safely cleaning my showes, harness, webbing and ropes to rid it of the oils without compromising safety? I'd appreciate any responses you might have, can be reached at jschili@comcast.net Thanks, climb safe.

Very hot water and a mild detergent should do the trick.

All of those are good suggestions, if you are super paranoid about any chemicals on your rope a few oatmeal baths should clear it up, followed by water. Just be glad you didn't get a ton on yourself!

Fels naptha soap definitely gets rid of the uroshi (sp?) oils. I'd check with gear manufacturers before using it on my rope, harness, or slings but I'd use it in a hearbeat on my shoes. Hope you're doing OK. PI is no fun.

Cold water and soap. Lots of it. Rubber gloves.

I like the leaving it out in sunlight for a bit idea, but don't know if it will work. Here's a link for you: http://www.rockclimbing.com/..._latest_reply;so=ASC
