Help Dingus find a new chalk bag

There are too many to choose from and I can no longer find the energy to thumb gear catalogs (that's either a real good sign, or a real bad one...).

I am picky about my chalkbags, which is the reason I need help. I need ALL of the following characteristics:

1. Big opening and bog body (large hands). I don't want to have to force my hand into the bag. I have x-large hands, can't even fit a large glove on (its WAY OJ!)

2. Deep - with my hand in the bottom of the bag I want my wrist bones down in there too.

3. Zipper pouch/compartment on the bottom.

4. Decent draw string closure.

5. Price - middle to lower tier.

That's it! Color, fabric, make - all secondary.

But I'd buy American if given the choice!

DMT

ps. Pictures of recommends are appreciated, as are links to a catalog.

Spin-off site for Fish. Russ makes AWESOME stuff. Not sure about the zipper closure.

https://www.grooveegear.com/Products.php

Funky stuff. I have one and my wife has one. Well built, not sure if it meets your size criteria but it is not small by any means. Also, no zipper on mine, but I get the idea that they will do custom stuff if you ask.

Good luck!

Thanks. Cool stuff, but not a zippered compartment amongst the lot, so far as I can tell.

That's the feature lacking from my current, otherwise acceptable, chalk bag.

LOl! That is a large mouth bass of a chalk bag. But it doesn't appear to have a zippered ass pouch.

Who's ass is that anyway?

This was all I wanted with mine too. I ended up just having to go to my gym, and scrounge in their old lost & found stuff. Guess what, it was the 15 year old chalk bag that was simple, had a pocket (big enough for a knife and rap rings), and didn't look like neon vomit.

Or you could just staple a sock to your ass every time you go out. This would be the funniest, and more satisfying for my personal amusement.

I like this one:

http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en-us/shop/climb/chalk/chalk-bag-with-zippered-pocket

only because the zipper is more robust than the zippers on the equivalent metolius/mad rock/verve ones. The mad rock and verve chalk bags have particularly flimsy zippers

I second the Metolius Stash Bag
although at $25, it might not meet your price criteria.

Another choice is the Black Diamond Chalk Bag. The pocket is on the back rather than the bottom and isn't quite as capacious, and I don't think the bag is as big either. It's about $2 less than the Metolius Stash.

In the smaller range, Verve makes a very nice chalkbag
with a zipper pocket which, at $17.50, is the cheapest alternative of these three. But the bag might be a bit small for big hands.

Actually (except for price) the $35 chalkbag you were making fun of in another thread--is perfect for you.

It's huge and has a zippered pocket.

$20.90 for the Kreig is the same as the Metolius here: http://www.altrec.com/...kbAlClfzltCgtzkLC_zT
$20.99

I'd go with Majid and ask Fish for a zippered one. Fish always sends me more shit than I order and pay for....Like you, a zipper is mandatory as I keep a mini-headlamp in the zippered flap.

The only advice I can offer is do NOT buy a Red Chili "cargo" chalk bag.

I bought one at an REI sale for like a ridiculous $3.83 or something. The opening is an awesome size as the zippered pocket shares space with the chalk and is separated by the liner, so it has all kinds of room if you keep the chalk size to a minimum. Yet the inner bag leaks chalk dust into the zippered opening, so pulling out anything is always a chalky affair. Bit smaller than you want, I'd give it a small/medium to medium size rating.

In fact - if you do go with the Fish option, I'll buy a zippered one off of him as well, all his shit is so well made. A good one of these should keep you happy for the rest of your life, I shouldn't have cheaped out. $20 is less than I spend on beer or porn some nights, it's nothing, but now I have to look at this damn red chili and shake my head every time I go out.

Evolve makes a nice bag. I have had mine for a couple years. It holds alot of chalk and there is no tring to stuff your hand in a tiny hole. That was a pet pieve of mine. Plenty of wrist coverage and a draw cord to pull it closed. No complaints from me on this 1. There is also a space for a brush I dont feel like down sizing the damn photo I took. Simple lazyness http://www.rei.com/product/751746
Edited to add link to REI.

The Evolve looks like a piece of crap to me. Too short, NO Zipper!!!!, and leaks chalk dust. Sorry dude, but it's Lame lame Lame.

"My biggest complaint is that since it's constructed of two layers of porous material, it will make big puffs of chalk if I don't handle it gently, even if it's closed, because the chalk has worked into the outer layer of fabric."

Write a note to Sam and tell him what you want - he'll make anything, any size. You can even send your own material if you want it totally custom.

http://kriegclimbing.com/home.aspx

Sam is awesome, it's what he does and what he has been doing for a long time. Life time guarantee as well.
