Because I hate (well, at least dislike (well, frequently I'd rather not)) hiking the long way round to get to the top.

Why? Why not! Why surf in shark-infested waters? Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane? Why huff chemicals from aerosol cans ? Why force puppies and kittens to fight to the death? Because it's kind of scary, which makes it REALLY FUN Why? "If you have to ask, you'll never know"

Cause its so damn fun. Its mainly about the climbing, but there are other perks. Taking trips, camping, meeting different folks, finding YOUR perfect line, pushing your limits, and the feeling of accomplishment or achievement after sending your proj. Stop cheating on your paper, write it on your own.

I'm just a beginner I like the feel of 4 limbs moving in concert and the relaxed yet concentrated mind. Don't like risking my life though. Too old and don't heal up like a young guy. so I take it easy.

I climb because there is nothing like it, I feel like is it an incredible meditation. It exercises not only my body but my mind. I think climbing gives me a heightened ability to find peace in moments full of chaos and you know you are really living when you find your on a 15-20ft run out on a route above your skill level ..... hell the girls ain't too bad too

I'm too clumsy to dance, too old to party, and I can't stand golf.

Crimpcramp wrote: the girls ain't too bad too This is an interesting comment. In Scotland, there are VERY few girls who climb, but at certain areas I've been to in the USA, half the people at the crag are total babez!
