Yeah I could imagine that a female novice would have weak hands. Some gloves and a grigri could have helped here too.

It doesn't taka novice to drop a climber. My (ex) partner dropped me...I was leading, finished the climb and she let go of the rope. I fell 35 feet.

Is is just me or are females being overly represented in the burnt hand-dropped partner accident category. Smaller, softer hands and the wrong instincts don't help.
(Not having a go at female belayers in general. In fact my biggest whipper was caught by a bar girl from yosemite lodge. She didn't even lead but she sure could catch a fall!)

My 'mom' recently caught a 25 foot leader fall, the leader weighing quite a bit more than she, caught him from decking while in the process she fell down a talus slope.
Once the dust and talus settled
She stood up, shook her hair, hobbled over to her dangling partner and smiled when she saw the that he was okay.
We were all relieved to see that the two were okay, but we didn't realize that she had suffered severe rope burn until we saw blood streaming out of her palms down the rope...
and the best part of it all
The rope was still locked off

do you think she would consider using gloves or she is done with climbing ?

She has a brand new pair of belay gloves that she's itchin' to use!
She's an awesome trooper!

I am all for gloves and usually use them myself, but I don't think that gloves (or lack thereof) are the issue here. It doesn't take a whole lot of force to lock off an ATC. One only needs position the brake hand correctly. If you have to squeeze the rope that hard, then you're doing it wrong.
