I am planning a road trip with my friends we are all based out of Chicago, IL. We were thinking of Squamish, but because Colorado was thought to be too hot in late june/july, is this true ? Are we better off going to Squamish because Colorado will be to hot ?

Hey, I'm from the midwest too, (climb at Devil's Lake at all?) and I was out in Colorado this summer in late June. I would think it would definetly depend on where you're going. We went to Fort Collins and it was pretty hot and humid there, as was Poudre canyon. Estes Park was just about perfect, as was Independence Pass, near Aspen. In Aspen we woke up and went to bed to some pretty cold temperatures. I think Independence Pass would be absolutely perfect in July, but again, it all depends on where you're going.

there are plenty of places to boulder in colorado in the summer. hell it's the best time of the year for the two best bouldering destinations in the state-rmnp and mt evans. but there's way more than just that for good summer temps-estes was already mentioned, camp dick, anything at higher elevation and you'll be fine, in my opinion even boulder area has okay temps in the summer if you dont mind looking for a little shade or maaybe not climbing mid day. especially if you're driving and not flying, stay in colorado.
