Berkeley Springs, WV. Estimated 100-150 foot sand mine of which is private property owned and operated by U.S. Silica Company. Has anyone been up on these slabs, whether legally or otherwise? I've found no mention on these cliffbands in overarching Falcon guides for the area or the more regional guides or on here. Anyone?

Get some pictures if you can Im curious. However if its operated bu a Federal agency, I seriously doubt there will be no problems with access issues! Its always worth a look I guess!

Are you talking about the cliffs just NE of the silica mine off 522, across the railroad tracks and tucked away in a cul de sac? I used to scramble there as a kid but never had the balls to climb the walls. Too much choss. I'm not sure there's much else in the immediate area worth climbing though. The mine itself is not really an option, the sandstone isn't terribly stable (not to mention the trespassing issue).

Theres too much climbing in general in west virginia to be worrying about some "first ascent" in a shitty quarry. Go do something that someone else already did, who cares.

It's not extensive, but it's tall and the quality in those pics is typical, not atypical. Give it a little more time for locals to pluck all the plums , and I'll happily show you around.
