What part of TN is Cookeville? i guess i could look it up but i'm feeling lazy... I noticed though in TN sometimes there are very nice boulder feilds in areas that are more known for route climbing.

Two exits up the road, going toward Knoxville, exit at Monterrey (sp?). There used to be a KOA campground there but I doubt its there now. Anyway, behind the campground is Bee Rock.

Its the place I met Arno Illgner in 1985. Its less than 20 miles from the college?

Pictures of which I recently found and scanned haha

Fortuitous meeting. While I only climbed with Arno 3 4 or 5 times it was eye opening.

Anyway, there is also another cliff band near Bee Rock, forget the name, there used to be a guidebook, Cartwright or Whitmore or someone like that wrote it? I'm 25 years gone but I bet the CLIFFS are still there!

Black Mountain is off the Crab Orchard Exit of I-40, great steep conglomerate sandstone, lots of high balls. Hasn't been trafficked much lately, so a stick brush is a must. Other than that, you're pretty close to the Obed... show up out there and finding bouldering shouldn't be a problem.
