Does anyone have any advice for climbing in the Dominican Republic? We will be in Puerto Plata but are thinking of driving over to Samana and Playa Fronton. The sport routes there posted on RC.com sound great, but I read that someone was hurt there not too long ago when a bolt came out, so I was thinking of maybe just trying to toprope some stuff instead.

Any info appreciated!

Hi Mike, we're working on Playas fronton routes, for next year they will be ready, now it's is not safe.

this is the top date 01/05/2010 them you will have all bolst like new and a safe wall on fronton.

Hi Wladir,

Thanks for all your offers to help! I went there in May 09, and got help from the folks (I think you too) on the yahoo group dominicanclimbers. I would recommend anyone that is going there get in touch with the folks on that group, they are super nice and helpful.

Luckily I was fine climbing there and it was beautiful. Definitely deserves the name el paradiso!

I hope to get back sometime.

Is there a website with climbing spots in the Dominican Republic? I`m a newbie, would love to get into it because I just moved to the North coast of the island.
