Is a moka pot better than an espresso machine? I have never used a moka pot, so I do not know. I don't really care about the milk foam. French presses suck balls. Manual grinder or electrical grinder? I am kind of leaning towards getting a manual one. Freshly ground is definately preferable to preground. Coffee...

Electric is easier & noisier. Manual has the aesthetic of more labor going for it. I suspect it depends on how you want to wake up in the morning.

This Bialetti moka pot makes great espresso. It works great on the trail, with my Wisperlite stove. Although in the afternoon, I prefer tea.

I find it so appealing to grind by hand! You really have to work for it, may make it a better coffee experience. But if you take it climbing, maybe it won't work too well after a full day of pumped. Moka pot is perfect for climbing. That is awesome. I've seen those (Think MSR) backpack espresso makers, but I think a Moka would be way better suited. Any particular brands or type of coffee? I love lavazza espresso I wan't to try Blue mountain, and I see that they ship to me. Is it really as good as they say?

Oh, BTW, trying to grind beans by smashing them with rocks is not a fulfilling experience.

Good point. Battery power? But maybe for climbing preground?
