I moved from one of the most vertical places on earth (Alaska) to one of the flattest (Western Ohio). Boooo!

Is there any climbing at all near Dayton, Ohio? I'm talking an hour drive or so after work, not a day trip to Kentucky.

I've seen a few pics of John Bryant, and to say the least, it looks uninspiring. Is it worth giving a shot for a couple hours of goofing around? It looks like you're not supposed to boulder, but really doesn't look big enough to top rope. Am I underestimating the size?

it is short.. most climbs are around 25 to 35 feet. i think there are a few around 45 to 55 feet. it is not that good. just some place to go if you are jonesing really bad. there just is not much here. there are a few waterfalls in the winter for a few weeks.

For a given skill level, you will find one or two climbs in John Bryan. I think it's worth a visit, but it's no Alaska.

In Cincinnati there are two decent gyms and Eden Park. Eden Park is said to be the highest quality climbing in Ohio; it's a man-made stone wall 30 feet high.

Let me know if you need a partner.
