Mountaineering and Glacier harness

So, I'm tired of horrible welts and bruises due to my harness and backpack hipbelt. I use an alpine-bod and my pack is an Osprey.

Is this just a necessary evil, or can I get a different harness that will do better?

Or a different size that would ride above the hipbelt of my pack?

Would a padded harness help?

The Camp ALP 95 looks tempting.

Thanks.

What does everyone else use?

My favorite harness in the world was the Arcteryx Verro. It was comfortable, even under a pack. I haven't tried the new Arcteryx harnesses though, so perhaps they are just as good.

I was never a big fan of the BD bod or alpine bod. I currently have a Blizzard, and I'm not real happy with it. The gear loops, the rear haul loop, etc just have a very small feel.

The single waste belt attachment is awfully uncomfortable.

I have the alpine bod, never had a problem with it. From what I hear, the Arc teryx harnesses are supposed to be pretty nice... worth checking out.

Edit: The pack that I usually wear mountaineering is slightly small, so it sits a bit higher, therefore the hipbelt does not interfere with the harness. You might want to see how your pack fits and make sure that it is not sitting too low.
