Im going climbing over thanksgiving break and wanted to get a trip in at tahquitz and suicide before the snow hit but I was told it might be too cold to climb?? when i looked at the weather it seemed to be around the same temp. as j tree.
does anyone living in the area have any information on the matter?

Check the weather for the town of Idyllwild. That is the town right below tahquitz.

just be aware that the town is at an elevation lower than that of Tahquitz. It's usually a cooler when you get up to the rock. (and of course cooler when you're 600 feet up on the rock face) Have fun though...it awesome climbing!

I always wanted to climb at Suicide but I only get holiday travel - how is that place in Dec/Jan? I've never heard of anyone climbing there in winter but the forecast I'm looking at over thanksgiving is brilliant.

It could be quite cold. Tahquitz is at 7000 feet. Suicide gets sun in the morning to early afternoon and Tahquitz gets afternoon sun. The climbing is quite good, but you may be better off going to Joshua Tree at this time of year.

I kinda figured it would be cooler/windy up on the rock.
does j tree get many visitors over thanksgiving?

yep it does. It kind of peaks during this time, but there are thousands of established routes so it's not like you'll be waiting in line. Just be willing to climb lines other than the super popular classics. Some people will contend that J-Tree is a choss pile. These folks are misinformed and/or couldn't adapt well to the type of rock. It is true that some routes are loose and or grainy, but again there are thousands of routes. Many thousand which are very good. The bouldering is quite good as well.
