Hello,
It looks like I'll be in Vegas for a few days between X-mas and New Years. I'll have a couple of days to climb and am hoping to hookup with someone to do some trad routes.
Drop me a line if you are interested...

If you or anyone else is up for it I would love to do Crimson and/or Epinephrine.

oooooo...Crimson & Epi will be NASTY cold around that time, and hella windy. Crimson is in the shade for the entire day, and when you get higher, its just windy and cold (@ hanging belays, no less)...if you can summit before maybe 2ish, you might get a little sun up top.

Not saying you shouldn't climb 'em, just make sure you dress warm, because you'll definitely feel the cold.

Have fun, and let me know how it went!

Thanks for the info. I have climbed Crimson in Jan before and it was a bit chilly. As long as you have the right clothing it is not too bad. Epi might be an awful lot colder though, thanks.

Hi,

I'm a new user to RC.com; just stumbled on it. I'll be in Vegas around 1 PM on the 22nd of December, leaving late afternoon of the 31st. The partner I thought was going to meet me there just blew me off, so I'm also looking to meet up with somebody.

FYI, I've been climbing at RR occasionally since the '80's and enjoy long trad routes. Epinepherine sounds pretty cold to me & I've started up Crimson in December once & froze my butt off, but I'd certainly like to try it again some time. Other possibilities I'm interested in might be Olive Oil, Tunnelvision, Solar Slab with the Johnny Vegas start. Or, you name it.

If you're interested, drop me an email, biggrnfrog@aol.com

It would be great to get a few folks out at RR's for the holidays. I'd be keen on hopping on something long and moderate like Tunnel vision or Frogland.

Some friends and I are headed to Red Rocks for the 27th through to the 4th. There's 8 or 9 of us and two cars. I don't know that we'll be climbing together all the time, and we all have different goals and wish lists. (I'm hoping to do Prince of Darkness.)

We'll be in a hotel, so after we drop some of our gear we'll probably be able to squeeze a couple more people into the cars for a trip to the crag. The group I'm travelling with favours planning after the fact, but send me an email or a PM and we'll see if we can hook up.

POD!!! You're gonna FREEZE. But if you do go in there you should do Rock Warrior instead-I think it's much better than the vertical edge mill known as POD.

Looks like I won't make it to RR's this time around. Heading to the Sierra's to do some backcountry skiing. Be keen on hitting RR's in late Jan early FEb.

I've been climbing at Red Rocks for about the past 5 weeks. I flew home (Atlanta) for the holidays, but will be back in Vegas on Jan. 6 If anyone wants to climb just let me know. I'm available everyday.

Happy Holidays
Cheers, Wes

Hey couple quick notes...I climbed in RR from the 13-19th this month. We did Sour mash on the 13th and it was not to bad cold wise. Also the wind was bad a lot of the time we were there-HOWEVER, once we got up into the canyons we seemed to be protected by the wind- I know sounds crazy but it was true! We didn't get to do a lot of the long stuff we wanted but did get up- sour mash, cat in the hat(in 30 minutes and it snowed for half the route! There's more to this story for another time...) also did Black Orpheus, and some cragging. I would highly recommend the N'plus Ultra roof- There's only like 3 fist moves and the rest is jugs! I will also be in and around RR's for most of Jan. if anyone wants a partner.

Hello friends. I'm in the Vegas area from January 1st to January 3rd, and would love to get together for some climbing. Sadly, I am short on gear; that is, without rope and trad gear . . .
If any groups have space for one intermediate sport / willing trad learner, please e-mail me back!!

PLEASE READ ME.

Hello all. Being the holidays I'm feeling generous and thought I should give all a heads up.

It has been storming quite a bit in the last week in the canyon and there is a considerable amount of snow on all of the formations. (Don't get any dreams of making first descents) It's just enough snow to keep it cold and miserable on most of the long routes.

My point is that the weather here is less than typical this year. For the enjoyment of your stay, please come with an open mind as to what routes you will be doing, and be prepared to go sport climbing as that is where most people are spending their time this week due to the weather.

One more heads up: Crimson Chrysalis and POD are nearly unclimbable do to the frigid rock temps. Two friends have been bouted off those routes twice in the past two weeks.

the high in vegas today was in the 40's and that's *in town*, not up at the crags. If there's ice on the loop road they close it and you have to walk or ride your bike to the sport crags, last El Nino winter cragging in the US was basically shut down for a few months

If anybody is interested in doing a long moderate route (or even a few sport routes, I just want to get on some rock) this Sunday I will be around after a long break up in Washington where it rained everyday for the past eight days. I do not know what the weather is like in Vegas, but it does not sound great. Maybe Olive Oil or something. Let me know.
