Does anyone know if there is a chart that compares the differnet cam sizes of the different companys? I tried google and the RC.com search but came up nada.
Iam looking for a easy way to compare cam sizes of like Metelous power cam, trango flex cams and BD C4 for example.
I want to double up on sizes but not be limited to just one brand.
I would go to the local gear shop BUT they dont carry a very large selection of gear. Unsure

Try this: http://clydesoles.com/Front/Camgraph.html

If you look around the site, there are graphs that compare cams in differet ways.

Edit: Image removed, see post further down.

Based on the "min" and "max" given by the manufacturers. Which may not represent the actual camming range of each cam.

I have a chart of smaller cams, I'll have to look to see where that went, I'll upload that later if I find it.

Edit: Here they are, full charts for large and small cams.
Edit: Links to updated charts below.

If you go to supertopo.com and download one of their sample topos, there is a side by side comparison of cams. In particular, look at the red rocks sample topo.

Also, is it taboo to refer to supertopo.com on RC.com ?

I am having trouble with boh the Clydes chart, and the image shack charts.

In the Clydes chart, the numbers are too big for the cells and you can't see all the info.

In the imageshack charts, the image is either too big or too small on my screen. When it is too big, you have to scroll to see all the info, when too small you can't see the info. Also, it prints too big to be convienient.

Can any computer geeks help?

Right click on the imageshack files and save them to your computer.

Once you save them, open them up locally and you should be able to print them scaled to full page using Windows Picture Viewer.

If you still have problems, PM me and I'll send you a PDF (assuming you have a PDF reader).

Qtm: Great chart! I really like it... I made an excel one in a similar fashion but sorted by brand. Your way of sorting by size makes much more sense. I really like how you put in the old camalot sizes.

Any chance you could add Trango flex cams? Are there any more that could be added too? Perhaps the Ball nutz?

One typo I found you might want to fix is the BD C3 Green is a "0" and not "00".

Great stuff!

Here you go. Updated charts based on the most recent specs. Removed the Metolius FCU as they're the same as the PCU. Added Trango Flexcams. Added color to make it a little easier to read.

Yes, it's an excel chart. The chart has the cams, min, max and calculated range from the two. The charts have the range column as the data and the cam name columns as the label. Had to play around with the various graphs to find the one I wanted with the data shown in the correct way.

Great stuff on the charts! I decided to go ahead and make my own instead though, so I appreciate the tips. Certainly will need some refining but it's a great resource to know how I can best fill in gaps in my rack... being that it's a franken-rack 'n' all.

The graphs aren't as good as yours but here's what I came up with for the smaller ones... I sorted by range midpoint rather than smallest range... plus it's in mm for my metric brain. heh!
