Top Ten Things I Learned During the Annual Colo. Summit:

10. There is no such thing as a Marmot Harpoon Gun (But there really is a bolt gun like in the documantary "Cliffhanger.")
9. The coldest place in the history of the universe is at 11,000 feet in the Rockies at 5 a.m. in the freaking morning. 5a.m.!!!!!
8. Brahhill, Neph, Justme, Kcrag and Freeballin are totally awesome. Any of you that need a partner, just ask. And all those RCers who bailed from this trip are WEENIES.
7. Freeballin's nipple tatoo is the funniest thing ever. Seriously.
6. Ice climbing is fun. It's even MORE fun when the crampons and ice tools you're using aren't even yours, so you can bang them around as you like.
5. It's hard to kill Brad when dropping giant rocks at him.
4. Nuclear buffalo wings at the pub in Leadville are so hot they should be illegal.
3. Freeballin's nipple tatoo is hilarious. See #7 for details.
2. Quick, someone post pictures of this trip!!!!!!!
1. Mntgeo is the NICEST PERSON EVER. Seriously. Thanks again George. And even more important, when's the next trip???

Also, I have a pair of collapseable walking poles that aren't mine. Who wants to claim them???

Mike Dano,

The poles are mine, and I can identify them! I forgot them in your car.

Thanks!

Who would've imagined that being the proverbial scrawny nerd dodgeball magnet in jr. high would save my neck all these years later?

What a great trip with a bunch of great people. Thanks for the inspiration, organization, hospitality and persipiration, George.

For the record, I did not bail on this trip. I just missed a memo or something and was waiting at the wrong trailhead at 3am. I forgot to bring the directions and mtngeos phone number with me so it was my own damn fault. I am 95% sure I was at the correct trailhead but no hard feelings. Next time I am camping on mtngeos front porch so I don't get forgotten. Glad you all had a good time.

It is not my fault!!!! You changed the directions. I just looked back at the original post and they are different than what I originally printed out. I printed out the directions early in the week because I wasn't sure that I would have access to a printer before I left. Doh!!! You all missed out because I was going to buy you all dinner and I brought presents for all of you. Really good presents. The kind of presents you wish your mom and dad gave you when you were a kid. I guess I will just have to keep them for myself now.

What an incredible trip.

Thanks to geo for getting this whole thang goin'. Meeting just_me, mikedano, bradhill, neph, & freeballn was such a treat. Great peeps to climb with (and pretty damn funny, too). Looking forward to the next annual winter summit.

No marmots, here... (can anyone tell us who's in this pic???)

More photos to come.

Cheers,
kelly.

(OMG! The wrong trailhead?! Bummer. Sorry we missed you, wigglestick (we had just thought you wussed out!!)

I must concur with everyone else. What a super weekend!!! It was so great to meet everyone from RC.com. What a great bunch of people. George is an all-around great guy, and an awesome host!

My list of things I learned:

George makes great coffee and pancakes.

12+ hours of slogging makes one very hungry.

Ice is fun, except when it hits you!

Mike is right. Freeballin's nipple tattoo is the funniest thing ever.

Nuclear buffalo wings at the pub in Leadville even hotter when one is eating them with chapped lips (I am sure Nate will agree).

You can sleep through anything if you are REALLY tired.

So what is your silly name? Find out using the name change-o-chart 2000!

In Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, the evil Professor uses the Name Change-o-Chart 2000 to change everyone's normal names into silly names.

George: Fluffy Lizardchunks
Fran: Greasy Barfsniffer
Brad: Lumpy Wafflebrain
Carson: Buttercup Lizardchunks
Kelly: Flunky Toiletchunks
Mike: Pinky Bubblehiney
Nate: I don’t know your last name, so I can’t do yours.

For anyone else who missed the trip, you too can check out this link, and find out your silly name. I tell you, we sure had some stimulating conversations during our little outing.

Surge, oops, GEO: I thought that you really wanted that sheep suit that you kept talking about...

So, here's the peak (with freeballn' on the far right):

And here are the players (minus me):
(front to back): just_me, freeballn, mikedano (laying down), neph, mtngeo and bradhill in the wee back.

Looks like a good group of sloggers, eh?

Hey we missed you, too, clymbr_chk. Next time (Moab... yahoo).

More pics... time for the mugshots!

just_me, trying to figure out how to get us off the mountain:

mikedano, at our highest point:

bradhill (and mtngeo). Were you trying to get the feeling back in your toes, brad?!

freeballn, chilln' on his cherished barcalounger:

neph rapping down:

neph's mug shot:

I'm holding out on posting mtngeo's pic. I think I'll wait until I get a good shot of him in that bunny suit.

Our 12+ hour trek was a good time had by all. We'll have to do another suffer-fest soon.

WOW the trip pics are great. I wish I could have made it. I ended up climbing in the Monument with a friend. I added some stuff to the aria with pics so it was not a total loss for the weekend. I still would have rather been up their with all of you.

nimo,

Sure looks a lot warmer where you were!!

One more pic...

At the end of the day, the group debates whether to indulge in mexican food and margaritas or burgers and beer. The brewpub in Leadville won. (*after ice climbing the next day... we went for the margs!)

(L to R) bradhill, freeballn (in blue), neph, just_me, mtngeo and mikedano.

Well, I'm glad you all had fun, and I really wish I could have come. On the upside my house is looking pretty good.
I am coming next time. Or... maybe I'll host next time and you all can come do our puny Idaho high point Mt. Borah, and stay at the new place. -Sean
