On Jan 17, 2010 a man fell from the Monk on Camelback Mtn while free soloing. Phx Fire reached him after 22 minutes and found him alert with two compound fractures; he was extricated in 30 minutes.

One lucky guy. Anyone know who it is? How is he doing?

Wow, I hope he is going to be OK. Of all the places I could possibly think of to free solo, Camelback Mountain would be at the extreme bottom of the list.

Since you're not actually willing to share any information, you might as well use a PM. Just FYI.

The injured soloist is doing fine; other than two broken legs.

Lucky he didn't crack his skull. I've soloed Camelback routes and lived to tell the tale. Many others have too. You just can't count on the rock's stability.

Just a quick question. There was a younger guy on this site a few weeks ago, from the Phoenix area, who was going off about how much he loved soloing the local climbing areas around there. He did not seem particularly experienced.

Anyone remember him, or know anything else about that?
