After coming to this wall for awhile, we were greeted by the landowner carrying a gun. He almost made us leave with all of our gear still on the wall!

In Texas, he could have shot you with impunity. If I were you, I wouldn't set foot on private land without talking to the owner first.

You should really get permission before trying to climb on private property. It gives climbers a bad name and makes access even more difficult. If you're curious how to go about it, the Access Fund lays it out here - http://www.accessfund.org/...on%20Priv%20Land.pdf

Joe, thanks for being informative and encouraging by posting the Access Fund info.
Climbers, there are better ways to secure access to climbable crags. Don't get it banned just for short-lived selfish glory.
