OK, I'm the author (with Chris Summit) and this is a plug for our book that just arrived (8,000 lbs of it!)... Larger 8"x10" format, 456 pgs, over 100 crags in Northern California, over 2,000 routes (trad, sport, TR, bouldering - maps, photos, topos) It'll get you anywhere worth climbing north of the Kern River. A Select guide! Many out of print/or hard to get info areas - KERN, NEEDLES, KINGS/SEQI, CALAVERAS, COURTRIGHT, SONORA PASS, BEAR VALLEY, TOLLHOUSE, FRESNO DOME, SHUTEYE RIDGE... etc. Keep in mind... it's a select guide - great for road trips. You can get a copy at http://www.maximuspress.com/ from Marty Lewis (God bless him) $49.95 (approx. the cost of a tank of gas but it'll last the rest of your life) free shipping They won't be in stores for another few weeks but it could be in your hands in a few days. additional free topos to go with the guide are at http://www.slatervision.com/id21.html Sample pages also there if you want to take a peek! (table of contents) Foreword by Royal Robbins, photography by Jim Thornburg, Jerry Dodrill, Bill Serniuk, and many others out there in the climbing community (THANK YOU!) Contributing authors also include Steve Edwards and Marty Lewis. This has taken 5 years of my life so I'm sorry for the shameful plug but I do think it is a good book (biased of course). There was such a community involvement it was so cool to hook up with legends and regular joe locals and make new friends in the process. So there you go! Cheers and happy climbing - Tom

what's included in the Seq/Kings section? I've been putting up a lot of new bouldering problems in the V0-V6 range in the last 3-4 years. I've been climbing at a lot of the crags too, and some of the bolts are rusty and old like 70s old(Moro rock, little baldy, chimney rocks, and buck rock. Do you talk about bolt quality in the SEKI section?

Bump... I realize for many (climbers), forums are how you learn about new guidebooks/areas, etc. I appreicate the dozens of you who have ordered and I've heard nothing but great feedback. So to the kook who killed my last offer... knock it off (You're from Oz... haha, bugger off ya wanker.). This aint spam dork. It's a climbing forum, and people actually like to climb and find out about new guidebooks here. Especially when they can get $10 off.

It's a nice book. Great for a roadtrip, but I live in the central valley so most of the climbs are within a 2 or 4 hour drive. Which makes it good for anybody in the Bay, Sac, Tahoe(which I'd like to see more of in the book) or the cen. valley. It's a big heavy book. Not the kinda thing you want to be carrying in your pack to the crag. But it could go without the Yosemite stuff(get the Reid guide and supertopo and your set) and leave out some of the bouldering, or maybe condense it a bit. Down to directions and classics. That would leave more room for routes & topos. Well done though.
