If you visit Colombia there are 4 places you should consider visiting:

1. Suesca (where it all started in Colombia)... About 400 routes... sport, trad, crack, face, 1 pitch to 4 pitches... beautiful sand stone. 50 minutes away from Bogotá. There is another mainly sport crags nearby Valle de los Halcones (20-30 minutes away).

2. Mesa de los Santos (aka. La Mojarra). Surreal location above a beautiful valley. 150 mainly sport routes, red sandstone... Near Bucaramanga.

3. Machetá - Near Bogotá smaller sport crag.

4. El Cocuy. Alpine climbing. Peaks rising above 16500 feet, allowing for high altitude big walls and mountaineering.

Photos by Sebastian Mejia, Ricardo Ernesto, Nestor Contreras, J. Cruikshank and Carole Lunny - Colombia is a country full of legends and myths, and Suesca, just 45 kilometres north of Bogotá, has its fair share of ghost tales, supernatural drumming, and flying witches. Suesca is a popular weekend destination for climbers of all levels. It is the best area in Colombia for both traditional and sport climbing, and boasts over 400 routes from 5.4 to 5.14. The walls are up to 125 metres high and follow the railway tracks and a small river

I'm coming! I'll be there in 2 weeks, for maybe 6 weeks. I have shoes, harness, belay device, sleeping bag. No tent or rope. I can lead grade 6b, french. I can speak a bit of spanish, enough to get around Ok.

Where are the best places for me to go, for meeting climbers and finding places to stay. Do I need to buy a tent? If so, from where?

Thanks!
P
