Planning a trip there in Mid March. Anyone know the conditions of this place during this time?

Where is this info coming from if you dont mind me asking. Have you been there in the past during this time, do you live near by, and/or been there recently? I just found this number from summitpost.com so I will probably call them towards end of the month to see weather conditions Contact the Mojave National Preserve HQ in Barstow at 760-252-6100, or the BLM Field Office in Needles at 760-326-7000 for the latest information.

Sorry my answer wasn't what you wanted to hear. Still, it doesn't make my informed opinion wrong. I'm sure the rangers in Barstow or the Needles will have better information, than somebody who has actually been there many times over the past dozen years. Might want to bring gaters and warm clothes in the event that you do head up in mid march.... and maybe a guide book for the Red Rocks, in the event that I actually do know what I'm talking about and you need a back up plan. I don't remember '04 being a particularly heavy winter, and these were the conditions reported at a similar time you want to go. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...orum.cgi?post=663637

I wasn't accusing you of being wrong at all and I not going to doubt you have been there many times over the dozen years. I just wanted to know where you are getting your information from so I can look it up myself. Thanks

I'd say March is a little early. I live in Las Vegas. We have been climbing south of Boulder City for about a month and you can see Clark Mountain is plastered. Now if it warms up abruptly. maybe by mid March the approach would be clear in the exposed areas. Try the NWS site for localized conditions: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=35.737595151747826&lon=-115.927734375&site=vef&smap=1&marine=0&unit=0&lg=en I'd guess maybe mid April and May to be better.
